I am currently employed in a small retail store specializing in rubberstamps and accessories. It has a very interesting mix of customers. The customer is primarily a stamper and secondarily a conversationalist. Small retail stores provide a meeting place for whomever. They meet and talk and work out the knotty threads of their lives in classes and demonstrations. As they say it "keeps them off the street."
They tend their families, cry over spilled milk like we all do, and they stamp. Making handmade cards for friends is a big priority. Learning new techniques is paramount. Finding new papers and new ways to use it, new inks, new designers...Yum, Yum...!
From time to time The Blond Fuzzball (Me) will discuss matters of the greatest importance...

The Dems are floating an idea of a new "transaction tax"...Why don't we surprise anybody who floats a new tax with a "transaction eviction"? They propose, we dispose...
Believe it or not time: the northeast is suffering south Texas weather, south Texas is enjoying mild weather and rain, thanks to the new tropical thingy. It's not strong enough to call it a tropical storm. Of course, it isn't done yet!
I am so tired of King James, tonight he is having an hour on ESPN to announce his new location come basketball season. He is such a pig when it comes to media time, ditto on the court. No wonder he has yet to produce a championship. It is a TEAM SPORT Mr King.
There is a rumor Shaq might finish his career in San Antonio, where he was the best basketball player at a local high school, not going to happen. Where do these things come from?

Alex, the rainmaker and Michio Kaku, physicist
We are blessed with rain..The hurricane brought us water....What a wonderful thing. Water which falls from the sky on its own timetable. The Science Channel has a very good program series this summer. One is Morgan Freeman's Through the Wormhole, Wednesdays 10 est. Same night with any luck at all, Michio Kaku will drop in with a program or two on the physics of the universe. These are exceptional for those of us who do not know serious math, but still want and need to find out what is what in the world we live in, and how it happened. (my personal fav)

Arizona
Am I missing something? Doesn't the word "illegal immigrant" mean that the person is in the US illegally? And something else...The President of Mexico has little right to tell us what to do and blame his problems on the US. Why is he addressing a joint session of congress anyway? And most of the Dems standing up and applauding makes me sick, what a bunch or morons.
The United States must address the problem of illegal aliens, where is the recognition that appropriate law is already on the books... that if one crosses illegally, he or she will be deported if apprehended. Arizona is simply publicly reminding us that they will enforce this law.
Phoenix, AZ is the kidnapping capital of the world. Do you not think Phoenix has the right and indeed the duty to attempt resolution of the problem and and protect its citizens? This debate is absurd.

Pound Cake
Sometime back I went to the internet to search Pound Cake recipes. Found lots of course...One was named Elvis Presley's Favorite Pound Cake. I thought, "Oh, sure..."
After becoming the Queen of Pound cake baking I decided it just might be his favorite. It is a wonder of a cake. The little darlings are sitting on my kitchen counter waiting for my sister to pick them up. They are golden brown, high rise, light hearted pound cakes.
leave a comment if you want the recipe to heaven sent cake bites.

Hair!
Hair!
Let's talk hair. My family gets very tired of my obsession with hair. And it is true, I am obsessed with this strange stuff that grows out of our bodies with such abandonment. Primarily I am concerned with the patch on the top of one's head.
Shopping the drugstore or wherever, hair product are a main ingredient in the bottom line. There are bottles of gloop, gel, conditioner, color and color fixer, straightener, curl stuff, irons to both curl and un-curl, grower, scissors to cut if it does grow, shampoo for light hair, for dark hair...It reminds me of a cafeteria. Too many choices. I want less choice and more direction.
I am never sure if I should shampoo then roll, shampoo and let dry naturally, shampoo and dry with a hairdryer which has umpteen attachments or ignore all of them and let the tresses fall where they may.
Then there are legs and if one if female, shaving the fuzz off is obligatory. (Well, in my part of the world anyway.) Have you ever counted the variety of razors? It is mind boggling. Where did all these gadgets come from...Are there rooms of women trying out all these and voting for the best one? Is there a scientist measuring stubble somewhere in a dark room?
Don't know, enough for today.

A bee in the bonnet!
This past week, the Aggie Photog took pictures of Bluebonnets at their most gorgeous. A bee, appropriately, was in the bonnet doing what bees do best. Spreading "it" around. Hopefully today will find a photo of this important transaction added to the blog. (as soon as Robert sizes it for me)
I watched LIFE on the Discovery Channel the other night. This particular episode was Fish. It featured a Japanese Mud Skipper which did incredible things to keep his brood alive. Yes, "his" brood. It was a male fish, an air-breathing little dude which walks on land with little flipper-feet. Go see.

National Health Care
My cell phone is in the 4th dimension. Sometime yesterday it took a hike. I took a hike also and took it with me, returned home and later on looked for it, it was gone.
Last night the House of Representatives (?) passed a bill of national health care. Please tell me it was a bad dream, no? It was real? Do you realize that the health care system in this country (USA) is now run by the congress and the president, both with approval ratings below 50%. Congress is way below, Obama is not far behind. A group that is recognized to be incompetent wrote the bill. OMG. Who is this world actually thought this bill would reduce the deficit? My son said that the word "deficit" is spelled O B A M A.. .
Medicare will be cut and trimmed to the point no doctor will want elderly patients. Forget-a-bout it.
Doctors will have to await some cockamamie schedule of treatment handled by our esteemed congress. Two misguided reps from Texas voted for it according to the count on the net. Lloyd Doggett and Gene Green. Did the bill contain an out for the members of Congress? I don't know, am looking, but wouldn't be surprised. What a good for nothing group!

Photographer
Photos, brilliant photos
I have access to some of the most incredible photos ever. Snow, trees, mountains, and buildings in a state of collapse. I will attempt to post one, though my computer has its own ideas, sometimes it "just says no!" The buildings in particular are my personal favs. Also cars, trucks and signs.

Oympics
Tonight Apolo Ohno is going to skate in what may be his last fast tract. The short one where it is get up or get out of the way! Then the long relay one which is my fav, it is so disjointed, but everyone knows whatever they need to. It is like watching a beehive at work. Lindsey Vonn is to ski tonight as well. She is lucky to still be in one piece. I guess it shows what great shape she is in...
